I have been wanting to take a photo of the hornets when they come to drink from the pool overflow, but I really haven't wanted to get stung by one! So, when I found this one lying on the pool deck I decided to get a photo this way.
Who knew that dead hornets were so dusty? Maybe live ones are also.

@helenhall Thank you very much! I agree, he is not the most attractive of my subjects, but having found him dead, I didn't think he would mind the pin too much.
