Pretty in Theory

These flowers have a very unpleasant odor and spread like crazy. They are very heat and drought tolerant though so, they are used extensively as a ground cover here. In the hottest months, the air is scented with the odor of skunk. Yuck!
Glad I can't smell it then! beautiful light, colors and details ~ fav

@lynnz :) This year, I am taking it away from the beds nearest the house. It was planted there by a gardener who said it was a great plant...she must have had no sense of smell. :) Thank you for your kind comment!

@ziggy77 Thank you so much for your lovely comment!

@moviegal1 Thank you very much!

@joysabin Thank you very much! As I sat there, I was thinking how wonderful it was that with my failing eyesight, hearing, and body, that I could still see the wonderful colors of nature and smell the odors around me...good and bad. Blessings are found in a myriad of ways.

@cottiac Thank you so much! I tried a variety of DOF, but liked this best.

@maggiemae Thank you very much! There is so much of interest in this flower, that I find it difficult to capture effectively. That you found I have done so, makes me very happy.

@dkay Thank you so much! The colors in this flower are so lovely, I can hardly take credit for them. The light was hitting them at just the right amount.

@milaniet Thank you very much! This was one of those times when I took about 20 shots in order to get one good one!

@gaylewood Thank you so much! In spite of the odor, I find the delicacy and inner glow very attractive.

@helenhall Thank you very much! I also find them lovely and worth the time to photograph.
