Last year, I was able to photograph a new-to-me bee, that I later learned was called a blue-banded bee. It is native to Australia, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, East Timor, India, and Indonesia. It's not supposed to be in Cyprus, so I wondered if it would survive the winter.
I was so happy this afternoon when I heard its distinctive buzz as I was looking for bees around the garden. I was even happier when I was able to capture a decent photograph. They always seem to travel in pairs, but they don't land near one another. They are beautiful bees.
Thank you all so much for commenting on my blue-banded bee photo! I apologize for the mass thank you; your input in my project deserves more. I will work to do better.
