The view from my parents' front garden. I grew up in this valley. These are the scenes of my childhood. The image of the sun setting over the Colorado National Monument in the winter instantly brings back memories of sledding with my friends at the "camel humps." The sun touching the top of the Monument was our signal to head home. There were no parents to supervise us; just a bunch of kids on the hills by the river sledding like mad from the time school let out until sundown. It didn't matter how cold it was; we were always out there! Such good memories! Now there are houses built there.
