Several years ago, a friend gave me a fairy door for Christmas. I had fun customizing it with paint, forged hinges, a doorknob, window panes and what not. I was quite excited to put it in its place in the garden at the base of the ficus stump that had a fringe of leaves that very prettily made it look as though it belonged there.
Then we got Martios. I think it took him all of about 42 seconds before he found it and made it look as though a dragon had been huffing and puffing at the fairy's house.
All that said, the door came with a key...in this wee bottle. Since the macro challenge, this week is glass, and I couldn't think of anything very interesting except my wee fairy bottle, I decided to use it. So here you are...next to the moss to show how tiny it is.
Your commentary about the attack (dog or cat?) on the little door was too funny! This is a very sweet image, and I'll hold a mental picture of the sweetness of the little portal!
I loved your story - but sorry about the sad ending to the fairy door. I have never heard of such a thing. The little bottle is lovely and you placed it well by the moss. No key?
@Weezilou Martios is a dog who came to us as a 4-week old badly abused and neglected puppy. To say that his horrible start has caused him many behavioral issues would be the understatement of the century. Thankfully, with MUCH patience and diligent training he has become a pretty great dog. @helenhall Thank you very much! I had not heard of one either until I received it as a gift. When I took the photo with the key in place, it looked quite odd. I am not sure why.
This is the first time I’ve heard of a fairy door . . . I looked them up online and they are so delightful. I’d love to have one! Love this image of your wee fairy bottle! So special! :-)
