Sir Squintley was allowed to find peace and an end to the physical struggles he had been dealing with for the last few weeks, in a humane end of life today. When we took him in for a check up to see how the surgery to remove half of his larynx was healing we were told that scar tissue had closed the new opening to half what it was post-surgery. Additionally, his cancer had gone into high gear and was causing him to lose large amounts of weight. He has given us nothing but joy for nearly 17 years; it was time to give him one last scritch and snuggle and let him go. The house already feels more empty.
You sound so brave here, and I hope you can stay focussed on all the joy that Sir Quintley has given you over the years. He looks like a gentle loving cat. Some lovely shots here to remember him by. Take care.
This brings a tear to my eye. Animals bring us so much joy and such sadness when its their time to go. I am so sorry for your loss. The house just won't feel the same without him. A lovely collage tribute. Take good care.
@helenhall Thank you for sweet words! My bravery was bested this morning when I cleaned his litter box and bowls for the last time. My Guy and I both find ourselves waiting for him to jump on our laps or the bed. It will take a while.
