This mismatched pair of shore birds (Great Blue Heron and Egret) had a common interest in something. I hiked out to this secluded marshy spot yesterday with a photographer friend. You had to sneak up on the birds, so this is as close as I could get with my 300mm lens hand-held, all the way out.
Oh my goodness, how bizarre! I see these two birds (well, not these specific two, but the same species) all the time. Lots of egrets around here and if I go walking / hiking, I'll often see the herons standing still in the grass, hunting. This shot could have been taken in Cape Town. Great job here, Alison!
