Green Heron

This green heron was very hard to spot at the edge of Tunxis Pond. They are supposedly the most common of the herons, but I have seen very few of them in my lifetime.

I wonder why they always look like they're angry?? This was a great catch - his colors certainly help keep him from sight. I don't think I've seen one in person before. Love the focus on the whole picture - a wonderful nature shot.

@milaniet I guess he looks intense, but he really was a little wary and careful. They concentrate fiercely before snagging a fish.
