Am like a kid at Christmas, my new (to me at least) lens arrived this morning. I've been after a 'proper' macro lens for months and then I stumbled across this one on the internet. It's a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 and from the limited trial I was able to carry out before draining the camera battery, I am very happy with it. If anyone has experience of one of these, would love to hear from you.
Fabulous, You will get some wonderful Macro shots with this, When I use my Nikon D5100 with my Nikkor 40mm Lens I always get some lovely shots, yours will shoot a lot closer than mine. I am after a Olympus 60mm for my Panasonic GX8, I will have to save up.
Always exciting to get new toys! I'm not a Nikon user, looking online most reviews for this lens say best to stick to f/5.6 or wider to get best sharpness and least distortion across the field. Happy macro-ing!
Congratulatons with the new lens. have a great use of it. I`ve a Canon but I guest it`s the same.
Try as much to use the tripod and don`t get closer as the minimal distance. Make a lot of tries and pic.`s.
@sarahlth@jesperani@skipt07 Thanks very much, I've hankered after something better than a screw on close up lens for months ... everyone will be so bored with a stream of macros:)
@peadar Thanks a lot Peter, will remember that. It seems very strange to actually use the dials in the lens as opposed to using them on top of the camera and it seems even stranger the camera doesn't register the Exif information. Another learning curve ahead!

@365karly1 Thanks Karly, now for the steep learning curve ahead!
