No need to comment, but I'm using this as a filler. The colour version is my Get Pushed submission for this week (the challenge was to produce a picture of strong textures) and Paula and Sylvia both wondered how it would look in b&w. Must admit I prefer this version, but I do love b&w.
I like both for different reasons. I found the green algae in your colour version gave the shot more texture since it smoothed out the rough spots, and aged the shot somewhat.
The B&W has more contrast between the water and the gritty looking wall,
Both are nice.
I think, if I may, I slightly prefer this version. Like @farmreporter I like the contrast between the water and the wall, but I think this treatment ages the image better. Gives it more character and really brings out the detail and weathered/tidal roughness of the wall. :-)
