A first attempt at infra red - I didn't think I would ever get the hang of levels and channel mixers and curves. It's definitely a work in progress still but I'll get there one day:)
This is very well done! They say you should use a lot of vegetation in your shot so you have it nailed here!
I like how your sky and horses are realistic and the IR changes are with the vegetation only.
I also had problems trying to do IR in post processing. I love the look of IR done in camera and was not happy doing it in post but that could be that I really did not know what I was doing - lol!
I think I am going purchase a filter for one of my lenses and see if that works.
@farmreporter Oh Wendy, this nearly defeated me! I prefer your version though. I followed an internet instruction sheet as best I could having had to download a channel mixer and used the curve function in that which was somewhat hit and miss. Think I overdue the glow but after spending the ridiculous amount of time I did on it, I was just so happy to see a pink tinge instead of bright blue!
This looks so interesting FB. The sky is looking really good with that darkness instead of the blue. And the greenery is showing the white. And the tones are lovely. Is this with your new filter? You must be pretty pleased with it - it's such a nice overall result.
@robz Cheers Rob! Filter hasn't arrived yet. This was done using a tutorial by Diego Sanchez - if you Google How to make a fake colour infrared photo using Photoshop you'll see the (extremely tortuous) process :)
@fbailey Ohh - you've done so well!! I did do a quick Google and it seemed to be amazingly difficult (I gave up!) - I'm so pleased you could do it to produce this!! That seems such an achievement - I think you can be really pleased with it. And it probably means you'll love your filter even more when it turns up.....
@robz I'm going to have to bone up on Gavin Hoey's tutorial for post processing them! He's also done a tutorial about using the filters as you have to do longish exposures as so much light is blocked out - what fun!!
@fbailey I really liked the couple of tutorials for his that I have seen. He is very good at explaining the steps in a way which gives you a chance to follow along. I'm afraid I won't have time to play with them much until we get back. So i'll be nice to see your results. And you're so right - it is good fun! :)
