A quick phone shot of yesterday's dog walk. These have been curtailed lately as my little collie was bitten by an adder and had to have a sleepover at the vet's on a drip. I am now paranoid where I walk my dogs!
Ooh Felicity , poor little doggie - I would also be very paranoid in where I took my dogs after that experience !However glad all is well now . A lovely rural scene !
oh my goodness, glad to hear Collie is okay. I look now different to your shot after reading this, beautiful landscape but where are those adders hiding.
@humphreyhippo Sadly yes. I've been reading up about them as I am now extremely anxious to avoid them. Due to the changing climate, they have been spotted in the UK every month except December. They used to hibernate October to April. They like woodland and heathland - the places we go for walks! We went to the beach a few days ago and I was told to avoid the grassland by the railway track too:(
@fbailey I remember seeing them most summers when I was much younger, but haven't seen one for years.
I suspect the collie will be much more wary in future too. Don't let it spoil your walks.
@humphreyhippo Thanks for that advice. I'm not so sure the collie even knew what happened. She was carrying a stick as usual and dropped it on top of or near to the snake and was focussed on us hoping someone was going to throw it for her.
I suspect the collie will be much more wary in future too. Don't let it spoil your walks.
