Heron

At Little Walsingham we saw this grey heron several times as well as loads of pheasant, including an almost green variety of golden pheasant (not this one). The highlight was today when we saw 2 very late swallows quite low in the village. These are probably from a late brood and they are confused by our mild weather! Most have now headed south and this is (I think) the latest I have ever seen a swallow in East Anglia. I have seen these MUCH later in Devon. A few frosts and I am sure they will be heading south. It is rumoured that some have overwintered in Cornwall before, surviving on insects over seaweed. They have been seen in early January, but I have never seen proof that any overwintering ones have survived all winter and into the spring.
