30 Days Wild - Day 4 by gaylewood

30 Days Wild - Day 4

Something special I look forward to every June when we arrive at the lake is seeing the Canada geese and goslings. These parents were not happy that I was approaching and immediately gathered up the goslings and headed for the water. I never try to get very close because I know they are quite protective.
Such a gorgeous family, you did well to get such a great shot, stay safe yourself around the male geese. Fav Gayle

Terrific capture :)

Are they of two different broods? Three of them look so much bigger than the others. Terrific shot of the group!

i wonder if they goosenapped some of them. i read that older geese will sometimes do that if they are't being taken care of properly.

@dyanstevens Thanks for your comment, Dyan! I read that sometimes "gang broods" form including at least two broods and sometimes five or more, so possibly that's what happened here. Not absolutely sure. :-)

Lovely family there!

It is a lovely family portrait Gayle. They are indeed very protective. I was watching ours on the river today - there are many families but being a town, they are used to crowds of people and don't bat an eyelid unless you go up really close.

Well if they aren't just about the cutest! Better to zoom in and capture the whole scent than to try for anything closer! You got a very sweet photo!
