30 Days Wild - Day 7 by gaylewood

30 Days Wild - Day 7

I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee on the front deck and this robin appeared...running across the lawn picking up earthworms. He was so busy looking for breakfast worms that he didn't seem to notice me stepping inside to get my camera. The camera clicking sounds didn't scare him away...he actually seemed curious about the strange noises. I was quite excited to get my first robin shots!
I love watching the robins - they've become quite at home even when we move around the yard. 3 of them really got into a tussle the other day - one of those beak-to-beak up like a helicopter- hilarious to watch.

Great shot! It's like winning the lottery when you dash indoors to get your camera and the bird's still there when you come back out!

How lucky he hung around for you to get your shots. It really is a lovely bird, quite different from the English robin.

How exciting that is for you to get this photo. Congratulations. We have really pretty blue wrens & finches around here but they move so fast I don't think I'll get a photo anytime soon.

That is a robin? So different to ours. You got him good and close. I discovered how to turn off the clicking noise my camera makes a few weeks ago. That was a big step forward for me because it was frightening the birds and making people stare at me when I was trying to be surreptitious.

That is a wonderful shot Gayle. What great detail!

@milaniet Thanks for commenting, Milanie! They really are fun to watch! This one kept walking right over to me, so curious, and then would quickly run in the opposite direction. The entire time hunting for worms. :-)

@365projectorgjenfurj Thank you for your very nice comment, Jen! It can certainly get frustrating when you chase the birds around hoping to get a good capture and not a single shot is clear because they move so quickly! :-)

@helenhall Thanks so much for viewing and commenting, Helen! Yes, this is an American robin. I need to learn how to turn off the clicking noise on my camera. I'll check the instruction manual. :-)

Let's hear it for the "Robin Photos"! We have none in socal, and I expect they're not native to San Antonio wither! I was thrilled with mine, and delighted they're hanging around the yard with their beautiful songs!
