On Frozen Pond by grammyn

On Frozen Pond

Actually a water feature by our back door that has frozen over. It will be thawed out halfway through the day. The camelias just fell off the tree like this and I liked the way they looked.

I had hoped to try a frozen bubble but looked high and low for the bubbles and couldn't find them! They are in a "safe" place somewhere. I have few opportunities to try frozen bubbles so I was a little dejected but not enough to go and buy more bubbles!
Nice effects

camelias and ice together are fascinating. I just learned that they bloom all winter down there...

I thought there may be some frozen fish there but it's just a reflection I think. Love the camellia.

The camelia looks so beautiful on the ice and the glimpse of the others underneath. Fabulous capture.

So pretty with the camellias!

Such a contrast between the flower and the ice. Nice capture.

So cool how the camellias and colors froze underwater!

These camelias fall off their bushes far too soon! They have so much colour in a cold part of the year!

It's like Mother Nature was arranging them for you- pretty! I want to do a frozen bubble shot too- and have no clue where my bubbles are. I'm thinking of trying it with the dish soap.

@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I don't get a lot of opportunities for frozen shots
@francoise They make an interesting subject! We seldom get ice but the camellias are more of a winter flower than a summer one for us!
@daisyditch Thanks daisy! Not really big enough for fish!
@kwiksilver I am glad you like the effect! thanks!
@eudora Thanks Diane! they do add a little more interest!
@tunia It is a bit unusual isn't it? Thanks !
@cjphoto Gee thanks Chris ! glad you like it!
@maggiemae I agree! do you get them in NZ?
@olivetreeann What a nice way to look at it! thanks Ann@! I wish I had thought of dish soap! THAT I have. Unfortunaltey I am not sure when we will get below freezing weather again. They are predicting the low 70's on Sunday and Monday!

@daisyditch Forgive my sloppy typing to leave your name in lower case!

We have lots an lots of camelias, Katy - all different kinds! I think they all fall off and become brown far too soon!

How lovely! great pink tones. And don't feel bad about the bubble, I'm sure you'll get a chance (and do a lovely job capturing one) soon!!
January 26th, 2016
@maggiemae I totally agree with you on that! They bloom in your summer or your winter?
January 26th, 2016
@dishaparekh176 thanks so much Disha! That's just it ! I may not get another chance we do not get those cold temperatures very often!
January 26th, 2016
The first camelias come out early spring and continue through to summer but are all finished late summer, Katy

I love the camellia in the frozen water. How pretty. I wish I lived closer, have three bottles of bubbles out and ready to use some day. I hope you get a chance to do a frozen bubble. Not cold enough here to do one. Sounds like it is there though.

@darsphotos thanks Darlene! That was part of my frustration with the bubbles we very seldom get weather cold enough to freeze them so I have to take advantage of every opportunity!

@grammyn Too bad you missed your opportunity. How cold does it have to be? We have frosty days, where the lawn is white and so are the cars and roofs but too cold to be outside. Glad those days might be gone, 38 in the morning on Sunday and more rain starting tomorrow.
