The main spool pin (purple thread) can work in this vertical position or a horizontal position with the help of a spool cap to hold the thread on the pin when it is in the horizontal position. The auxiliary pin (orange thread) is used when sewing with a twin needle and can also be used to wind the bobbin. It folds down when not in use.
