We had a huge problem with hairy caterpillars last year until we finally managed to get rid of them. They ate their way through the leaves of our two white cedar trees and when they had had their fill with that they wandered all over our garden and the neighbours gardens until they could find another source of food. Fingers crossed they are now gone permanently.
