Aspects of the evening sky by helenhall

Aspects of the evening sky

I get so frustrated when I end up with half a dozen shots and can not choose between them and tonight is one of those times. Not because they are all good, just that they are all different with equal merits.

Having earlier settled on posting one of yesterday's shots, I then decided to nip out and enjoy the last of the day light and was rewarded with some beautiful skies.

What you see here is the Aspects Leisure Centre. Sponsored by Tescos as in compensation for building yet another supermarket some 20 years ago. It is an ill-kempt and litter ridden eyesore close up, and the once shiny state of the art cladding has shed, with all the neglect but none of the attraction of an ancient tiled roof left unrepaired. At times though, it takes its place in an otherwise unremarkable Bedford sky line, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to show it at its best - ie profile only!

PS I daren't stay up late again looking and commenting on other photos - forgive me. Hopefully, tomorrow.
I like the subtle tones.

You had me fooled initially; I thought you were on holiday. two weeks in Bedford or of you are really lucky three. Well seen with lovely colours.

You have given it a really exotic look.

Maybe if you have a few shots that you think are good you could post the other ones later in the week. It doesn't have to be that the photo you take is taken on the actual day. I would love to see some of the other shots of yours that maybe have 'got away'

Lovely capture, love the tones of the sky and I was fooled thinking you were half way around the world :)

That looks exotic indeed!! Very nice shot Helen. I know what you mean about not knowing what to choose... I experience that - in my case because they are slightly different, or they're all mediocre but I have to go with one ;) ... I open PowerPoint, with a black background (as it always pops better), and I insert one photo per page. Then I go through the slides in presentation mode and see what I'm drawn to the most... It helps: inevitably I finally find the one I think looks better. :)

Fooled me also. What a clever way to photograph an eyesore.

@paulmann @onewing @moonmtn It was never my intention to fool - perhaps just disguise. Thank you for your comments and do not think of holidaying here in Bedford for any number of weeks right now. We have seen sunnier times.

@taffy Thank you - you are kind to say so.

@onewing Thank you for your suggestion and kind comment. I do sometimes come back to one or two earlier shots, but at the moment feel that a certain amount of discipline is the key to improving my photographic skills!

@kerosene Thanks for the hint. I sort of do something similar but more often than not get tired and make a rash decision. Putting on a black backing might help I agree. Then there is the dilemma of whether to choose the photo that has a story or significance, or the one that is technically better. ho hum. Thank you for taking the time to make the suggestion Caroline.
