Here is a squirrel that was sizing me up before scurrying away. Taken earlier this week. It is all I have time for today.
Many thanks for all your comments over the last few days. Much enjoyed and appreciated. it is a busy weekend ahead ... but I will do my best to continue through ...... What I must do, is count up the votes for the ETSOOI challenge and see who has won.
When my brother was 10 years old, he found a baby squirrel on the street. Because he was just a kid, he did what all kids do...he took it home. That is when my parents discovered why it was on the street instead of in its nest. It was blind. My mom talked to their vet who told her it was illegal to keep it, but that if they took it to the rescue/rehabilitation, they would euthanize it because there was no hope of releasing it. My parents took a "Don't ask, Don't tell" approach, and raised Critter. He had an elaborate outdoor Critter palace, complete with trees upon which to scamper and a nesting box. He was provided nuts and veg that my mom and brother hid from him so that he had something to do with his day. He lived for eight years, and my brother still tears up when he talks about the day he died. I never see squirrel photos without thinking of Critter. Thank you for posting another reminder.
Dear Helen, Relax! I know that you're looking at my pics so you don't have to feel the pressure of commenting all the time on them. Once every 24 hours is still satisfying enough to me ;-)
@evalieutionspics Such a wonderful story about Critter! Thank you for sharing! :-)
@stimuloog your kind words. If I could visit once every 24 hours, I would be happy, but alas ....
