My attempts to declutter the house have gone a bit wobbly, I keep flitting from one thing to the next trying to squash a rising feeling of panic as the week approaches its end and there is far more left undone than done. Once I hit a certain point of panic, I start to get more and more off balance and cover less and less ground.
But I have taken ten big bags of books to Oxfam, another two to a local book shop, a big bag of videos to the Salvation Army shop and am about to get a huge pile of empty ringbinders picked up by someone local who will put them to use. The dustbin men collected two big bags of shredding today, and the study is beginning to show pockets of space waiting for me to refill.
This reflection shows the sort of trajectory I must have been making on my bicycle loaded with books. Yes, today is all about wobbly lines.
nice shadows. at least you're getting sunshine. the only time I could get out to photograph is on weekends and it seems weekends here in Toronto are reserved for cold blowing snow and grey cloudy skies!
when you're done decluttering, can you declutter my spare room? hahaha!
Funny the way we measure our progress. All those books and videos and recycling sounds huge to me. I am lucky if I can part with a box of clutter.
I like the photo. One of the best things about winter are the long shadows.
@kali66 thanks for the cheer - will face it all again tomorrow with gritted determination @summerfield not a lot of sunshine, but we had it yesterday and I made the most of it. Hope your lot improves for you soon. when I am done decluttering, it will be time to start again. @helenm2016 I have been talking about it for ages @janemartin I wish I could be the same Jane. I'm not exactly a hoarder but I do have a bit of a 'might be useful one day' mentality and I wont get rid of things unless they are properly recycled or find a new home, which makes things a whole lot more complex. @redandwhite ha! my husband says I am too hard on myself. I just always imagine I can achieve so much more than is possible. Long shadows are great - agreed.
oh my goodness, i went to youtube this morning and a random video was suggested to me called Psychological roots of clutter, the perception of value.. i will watch it later but makes me feel uneasy, the internet is watching us!
@kali66 there is no doubt about it, no longer is anything secret - but then if we will go about discussing our lives on public sites, what can we expect? I'm feeling much better now I have two rooms thoroughly gone over. it certainly doesn't have a minimalistic feel yet though.
@suzanne234 - actually Suzanne, I am sure my bicycle rides were a lot more wobbly. A big load of books on the front basket, another on the panier and a rucksack on my back. I was pushing my luck!
