Both my vases of flowers were looking rather sorry this morning and needed a sort out. As I temporarily placed the tulips down on the work surface, I wondered if I could do something with them as a finale for the negative space challenge this week.
The flower heads were in such tempting disarray that I was obliged to zoom in and capture them head on - so that has become my background here. Not sure if it is negative space any more?
Whatever I did with the shots I took, they all ended up looking like florists cards that you write a tribute on and attach to an arrangement or bouquet. Not what I had in mind, but in the end I had to embrace it. And so this, is my tribute to my dying tulips, which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
A beautiful edit. Perhaps if you had made it square it would solve the florist card dilemma, not that I see anything wrong with that, the thought never occurred to me until you mentioned it!
love this edit. that faint tulipy background is beautiful, and i like the stylised effect on the tulips themselves, and how you have set them out of the frame. i've never seen a florists card i would actually like to use, unlike this one. also not sure if a background texture counts as negative space. will be interesting to see what others think :)
@suzanne234 Actually Suzanne, you are right, I think this would work as a square. But I started off with the negative space idea. Thank you for the compliment.
There is so much to love about this image! You're right...it looks like the enclosure card with a bouquet delivery; and what a beautiful enclosure card it would make. I can't begin to imagine how you edited to come up with this treasure. What a talent you have, Helen! FAV!
i quite like how this came out. i like the hint of tulip petals in the background as negative space. with the appropriate wordings, this would make an excellent post card or greeting card. aces!
It's so pretty and it is exactly the type of card I would choose in a florist shop. I like that the tulips are set to the side and the hint of petals in the background; makes for such a lovely image. It works for me as a negative space shot too. :)
