Turbulent Tulips by helenhall

Turbulent Tulips

More from the tulips that keep on giving. Admittedly taken yesterday, but as macro is the theme for the 52week challenge I thought I would stay with these petals for today. With all the rainbow colour going on, I thought I'd see what these would look like in black and white and rather liked the result.
They look rather lovely in b&w,

They work beautifully in b&w - I find it so restful after all this riot of colour.

I immediately thought of similar work by a famous photographer that my aging brain can't remember. Arrgh. The similarity is in the feeling of depth achieved by the different tones of the outside and inside of leaves.

Wonderful tones and texture. Colour can be so intoxicating and distracting... I don't trust it! I think that b&w has the potential to be more honest, revealing what's really there. Fav
