Early Evening on Whistling Sands by helenhall

Early Evening on Whistling Sands

The sun came out to brighten what was left of the day in the beautiful bay of Whistling sands, where the dry sand really does whistle (well squeak) underfoot.

As we paused to look in the small shop before climbing the steep hill back up to the car park, I spotted a cricket set and this was duly purchased to give some focus to the following day's beach trips and additional nuance to our trips down memory lane.
Summer weather brings out the joy and n these places. There is a special beach here in one of our favourite National Parks. We call it Squeaky Beach.

I've walked on one - called a different name but means the same. Wonderful!

Lovely shot. We have squeaky beaches here too. Our local beach has sand that is so white and almost pure quartz so it squeaks every time you walk on it.

Lovely contrast. Burning sun and deep shade for refreshment.

The low sun has really given a lovely sparkly feel to the sea and the silhouetted figures on the rocks give a sense of scale. A good time to visit the beach. Fav.

The sea looks almost metallic, beautiful light. The cricket set made me smile, no day trip should be without one.
