It seemed bright as daylight at 4am when I woke, and once I got the idea in my head to head down to Priory in time for sunrise, I couldn't get back to sleep.
I enjoyed watching the sun emerge on the other side of the lake which seemed to awaken the crows into one almighty racket.
Further around the lake, there was a mist rising, which helped to soften the background to this group of cygnets with their parent.
And since Jerome looked forward to seeing more of the geese, how could I not oblige?
You can feel the peace and tranquility of the early sunrise in your photo, when everything is fresh and new for day ahead. Beautiful light, colourful reflections and a moment to savour.
superb shot, helen - well worth the early start! i practically never see sunrise anywhere. funny that you should mention jerome, as i wondered if this might be one of his as i scrolled down - something about the light and the tones, not to mention the close focus on the subject
I've seen so many shots from Priory today with the wonderful lighting and this is another one. Well done both for the shot and for getting up that early.
I think I picked the wrong day for a lay in.
As most of you know - I hardly ever reply to comments - which seems so rude but it is the only way I can continue and spend any time I have looking at your projects. I just wanted to say thank you for your continuing support - and in particular for your enthusiasm for this capture. It was magical to be out and about so early in the morning and yes the lighting was so good.
@stevejacob This one was yesterday Steve, and after my 4.30 am start yesterday, I wasn't out and about until 7 am this morning. I am sure you benefited from the lie in!
@pistache sunrise is a very rare thing for me too - and especially when it is so ridiculously early as 4.30 am! Thank you for your kind comment - and any comparison to Jerome most certainly causes blushes. I just got lucky with the lighting here.
