Sea urchins by helenhall

Sea urchins

I'm taking you back to Yorkshire for a couple more days, before going off camping again at the weekend. This time to a festival.

My friend found the shell of the sea urchin on the left - about 1" in diameter. We then got talking to a local man from Staithes where we were exploring the rockpools. He had come across this rather large sea urchin and we were able to take a close look at this unusual creature.

He said as a boy he used to come down to the rocks and collect the shells by the bucket full, then sell them on to tourists. But they aren't so common a sight nowadays.
gorgeous, lovely find and composition

I love the sea urchins! I have used them and their spines in my sailors valentines pieces of art. https://365project.org/gardenfolk/365/2022-02-22
