Bit sad to find out I missed out on getting my fellowship with the PSNZ but I like my work and happy that some of my friends have gotten their letters with my help.
Helen - sorry to hear your news - if there is one thing I have learnt in the last year or so you can guarantee nothing in photography - in any submission I cannot see how a choice of subject or individual style is not an influence on outcome - the key is to enjoy what one does and appreciate that many get great pleasure from what you do.
@handymaurice thanks Haydn, I totally agree with you. I hear their comments but I still like how I did it and it is me and I wouldn't have wanted to enter a cookie cutter portfolio just to get it :-) love our work!
@helenw2 we had a talk at club just after I joined about submitting panels for letters and I was quite keen - but since then I am not sure as have I am not convinced - have seen extreemely good work gaining recognition but and awful lot of rubbish out there too claimed to be good - but clearly isn't - beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there is much art for art's sake
