My mother passed away on the evening of the 19th December. She had graduated from college in 1938. While she and Dad were raising 10 children, she went back to college and received a Masters in Library Science. After my youngest sibling turned 5, Mom became the librarian at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, NJ from which she retired. Mom always loved flower gardens - going to one every chance she got. We would take her to the Philadelphia Flower Show which she always enjoyed. Another hobby of hers was beating us all in Scrabble, it is hard to win if your opponent can speak Greek, Latin, and French as while as English. For each grandchild (18) and great-grandchild (20) for their first Christmas, Mom always gave a Raggity Anne or Raggity Andy.
The next several days I will be busy and probably won;t comment on your great photos until after Christmas.
Retired educator - taught mathematics in high school, went back to graduate school, worked in research labs, and finally went back and taught computer science...
Harry, I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like your mom was a lovely person and you have some great memories, to boot, but I know it's still hard. See you back after Christmas! :)

I offer you my condolences. It is a mazing how the game of Scrabble has united loved ones. When my Scrabble playing Mom passed all the family reached into the letter bag and took out a Scrabble letter to remember her by. I got the letter Y and it is a question I often ponder. Take care.
@buggus Thank you Oleta, we appreciate it more than I can say @highway266 Thank you Ted, we are getting together to celebrate Christmas on the 30th and I will borrow your families remembrance of your Mother
