Dressed for Winter

This one of my neighbors trees. Whereas most trees are bare during the winter, this tree has ivy growing up about 40 ft, from its base, giving it a pretty green look during winter.
Great splash of colour for Winter :)

Maybe all the rain we've had? Green is a beautiful color to see this late in the season. Great shot!

@angieqs Thank you Angie, it stands out from all the others around; I'm waiting to see how it looks when we finally get snow

It's beautiful! Is it a tree with vines growing up around it? Or are those leaves actually from the tree itself?
January 14th, 2012
@pwallis Thank you Paula, it is vines growing up the tree about 12 meters

Cool - looks like a peace sign.

This is very pretty. I have a single trunk oak with Ivy growing up. Everyone told me it would kill the tree, but it's been there for years and when the leaves come out it seems quite healthy.

@jgilker Thank you Jessika, with the overcast sky it really stands out
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi, even in Winter there is beauty
@raj366 Thank you Raj, hadn't noticed that before, thanks
@vernabeth Thank you Beth, I have been told that also, but this tree is very healthy in the other seasons and the ivy gives it a different look

So the ivy keeps growing in the winter? What do the temp's get to where you live? Very interesting shot
January 15th, 2012
@myhrhelper thank you Kathy, we get a few days below 0 Fahrenheit every winter but mostly in the teens at night
January 15th, 2012
very cool shape to this tree, it reminds me of a tuning fork! Great shot
January 16th, 2012
@crickle1969 Thank you Crickle, I had thought several years ago it would have choked the tree, but it hasn't
