Candle Lit by hjbenson

Candle Lit

Paula Brumbe (@brumbe) has been feeding us suggestions on topics and techniques to take every week. This week is using light. I decided to try a candle lit photo for my first attempt. Using as the primary focus a photo I took on Bora Bora several years ago. I haven't tried something like this in ages so I am looking for critques, suggestions, ... Thank you

To see how I setup the photo for today http://365project.org/hjbenson/others/2012-02-22

really like the feel to this. I am sitting next to my friend Gaby whom you met at Grounds for Sculpture and she sends her best.

@hjbenson She has plans to go to Texas that weekend, but I have invited her. I just found out that I can rent a mobile scooter at Longwood, since I will only be full weight bearing for a few days. Hopefully it has a photo equipment basket.

Love the lighting

Perhaps a second candle just off to the right to counteract the large shadow the shell plays on the photo?

I think as Paul suggested. It's a bit too dark for my taste. I love the theme you've got going on though!

@mstipe thank you Michelle, another candle would have made it a bit brighter and I agree just a bit more

I like the subdued lighting. The golden brown tones remind me of painting of the old masters.
