We visited Assateague Island National Seashore today (4/22) The herd of wild horses is split between Chincoteague in Virginia and Assateague in Maryland. The herd in Maryland is treated like any wildlife by the National Park Service; whereas, the Chicoteague herd is owned by the local volunteer fire department.
