What are they

On my daily walk, I have been passing by this bush and finally decided to get some help to find out what they are. Best viewed on black

This is mountain laurel. I didn't know it could be domesticated. It grows wild around here in the mountains.

@kerristephens @frankhymus @maggiemae @joansmor @salza @bkbinthecity Thank you for all the comments, @francoise was correct as soon as googled "mountain laurel" I saw them and then on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalmia_latifolia their photo is very similar to mine
