I found Humpty Dumpty and his friends.... by homeschoolmom

I found Humpty Dumpty and his friends....

"Humpty Dumpty sat in cake server,
Humpty Dumpty was rolled with ferver,
All his marble friends and all his stone peers,
smashed Humpty Dumpty, leaving Lisa in tears!"

Well, as the saying goes, no sense crying over spilled milk, but how about smashed painted eggs? UGH! Most of my eggs were collected while we were in Germany in the early 90s and came from East Block countries, like Czechoslovakia (which doesn't even exist any more). I kept them in this covered cake server to protect them. But, the mover didn't wrap them individually. The heavy marble and stone eggs in the bottom smashed many of the eggs when the boxes were carelessly rolled by the movers, smashing 8 of my eggs (including the red one that was one of my favorites). So bummed.
Oh no, so sorry about Humpty. Bummer when things break in the move. Hope that you get reimbursed for their carelessness:(.

OMG, I am so sorry. My heart just sunk, like really low and felt the goosebumps as I read your narrative. Soooooo, soooooo, sorry. :(

@amandal Yes, they will pay for them. I have already looked online. There are some Ukraine eggs, but I can't replace the Czechoslovakian eggs that I've had for 20+ years. They will pay for 8 eggs, if I can find them. I should pick out one of the really expensive ones.

@darylo Thanks. One of the pitfalls of moving.

I'm so sorry Lisa. They looked wonderful from the bits I can see. Shades of Faberge! Hope you get some great substitutes.

This is terrible Lisa. Such beautiful treasures gone

That is so sad.......! I can imagine your sadness. SAD image!

Sorry for your loss. Guess there is a lesson for us here. If you have treasures don't trust others to care for them. Experts in moving don't always recognize our treasures.

Rope off the crime scene, and start looking for a serial egg killer

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Does make a nice photo but I guess that's not much consolation

So sorry, Lisa. Those hand painted eggs are lovely treasures (my Mom had a couple of them. They were painted by my Uncle's mother who was from Russia & lived in Canada). Boo, to those careless packers. Still, you made a cool photo out of it!

I'm so sorry! I hope you can find some substitutes that you love!

Oh wow, I would have a hard time dealing with such incompetence on the part of the moving company. So sorry to hear of your losses.
July 7th, 2014
@linnypinny Thanks!
@digitalrn Seems like everyone we encountered on this move was incompetent, right down to the bank we used to buy our house. I just don't think Customer Service is a priority any more.

oh no!!
July 9th, 2014
@lafish I have found a few replacement.

Oh, I just feel so bad for you! I don't know if I'd left the packing of them to a mover, but when you hire a professional you certainly don't expect this. I seeing this shot a little late, but my first thought was- don't throw the pieces out yet!! I think you are on the artistic side and my thought was you could turn the pieces into a 3D mosaic in one of those picture frames that have a sunken part- like a shadow box. But maybe you've tossed them already. If memory serves me correctly, did you post a picture of them in a bowl? You may not have the real thing, but at least those stupid movers can't destroy the picture. Soooo sad!

@olivetreeann Oh, that's an awesome idea! I do still have them. If I get several little ones, I can do one for each egg. That would look awesome in my kitchen! Now, I'm excited. I need to go to Hobby Lobby and look for frames! LOL! Thanks for the idea!

@homeschoolmom Glad to help! I just kept thinking there must be a way to salvage them!
