Standing guard over the trees... by homeschoolmom

Standing guard over the trees...

The other day, I posted a collage of this tower from my backyard. Here is the full tower, which is staffed by NC Forest Rangers, which stands high above the trees watching for forest fires.
Here's a link to my other picture:

I love this. I've read about the forest rangers but this is a first view of one of the structures they use. Fav

@swilde It's probably 100 feet high. The trees between our house and this tower are quite large. Lots of very tall pines here.
@sarasdadandmom Thanks!
@ceilidh Thanks so much for the FAV! This is actually the first one I've ever seen that isn't in a national park or a national forest.
@lafish Thanks!

A very cool capture! I'm sure the view is spectacular but I would never be able to see it. Too high for me!

What a nice backyard

@linnypinny I don't think they let people climb up there any more because of liability. But we climbed a similar tower in the White Mountains. Fabulous view. Heights don't bother me. My husband was ready to climb down just a minute after we got up there, though. Odd thing for someone who jumps out of airplanes! LOL!

This shot really gives you a good perspective on how tall the tower really is. Good shot!

I don't think I could walk up all those steps. I'm a little scared of heights! nice shot.

@joemuli Thanks!
@quietpurplehaze At least they keep in shape! LOL!
@olivetreeann Yes, it's huge. Has to be to see over all the giant pines in the area.
@kwind We did a tower like that in NH. I was exhausted when we got to the top, but it was worth the view. My husband was the opposite, he could have easily jogged up the steps, but was ready to come back down after about a minute.
@tracie8266 Hahahaha! Totally by accident. I never even realized that!
