The other day, I posted a collage of this tower from my backyard. Here is the full tower, which is staffed by NC Forest Rangers, which stands high above the trees watching for forest fires.

@swilde It's probably 100 feet high. The trees between our house and this tower are quite large. Lots of very tall pines here. @sarasdadandmom Thanks! @ceilidh Thanks so much for the FAV! This is actually the first one I've ever seen that isn't in a national park or a national forest. @lafish Thanks!
@linnypinny I don't think they let people climb up there any more because of liability. But we climbed a similar tower in the White Mountains. Fabulous view. Heights don't bother me. My husband was ready to climb down just a minute after we got up there, though. Odd thing for someone who jumps out of airplanes! LOL!
@joemuli Thanks! @quietpurplehaze At least they keep in shape! LOL! @olivetreeann Yes, it's huge. Has to be to see over all the giant pines in the area. @kwind We did a tower like that in NH. I was exhausted when we got to the top, but it was worth the view. My husband was the opposite, he could have easily jogged up the steps, but was ready to come back down after about a minute. @tracie8266 Hahahaha! Totally by accident. I never even realized that!
