Those look like Zinnias- but I don't think they're a wildflower, so it can't be them. Hmmm- pretty no matter what. Just looked through my wildflower book and I really think it's a Zinnia- and they come in all different colors so seeing your remark above really makes me think that's what it is. Nice shot!
@olivetreeann@randystreat Yes, I think they are zinnias, too, now that you mention it. Definitely not dahlias. They weren't wild flowers. They were planted on a hillside as part of a memorial for an Indian burial mound.
I looked at the flower and know it by the Afrikaans name -Jakob Regop. (Zinnia) Googled it and yes, it is the same flower. You get them here and they grow well without lots of water. ( Jakob= persons name and regop means standing straight) What a name! Well done.
@sdutoit So cool to know that these grow all over. I'm always amazed at the variety of animals and flowers from one continent to the next. @bkbinthecity@joansmor Thanks!

@sangwann Thanks! I have no idea what kind of flower it is. The hillside was covered in this flower in a variety of colors.
@bkbinthecity @joansmor Thanks!
