Historic Buffalo Church by homeschoolmom

Historic Buffalo Church

For my Get Pushed challenge this week, I was asked to do a black and white architecture shot. This is the steeple of Historic Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Sanford, NC. Oldest church in Lee County, the current building was built in 1879. However, this church congregation had 3 other buildings that date back to 1797. The church website (yes, it's still an active church congregation, not just an historic site) says the gallery was mostly used by ex-slaves who were members and continued to attend well after the Civil War. Now, that's some history. As a footnote, I often park in the adjoining cemetery to walk across the road to get photos of my favorite ivy covered barn that sits at the edge of a cotton field.
Beautiful black and white of this historic church!

I love historic structures that have endured time, and it is always a good feeling knowing that communities still care enough to maintain them

@digitalrn Absolutely. That is one of the things I loved about New England. Buildings that pre-dated America were still maintained.
