GPS fail! by homeschoolmom

GPS fail!

Do you ever wonder if the people who program GPSs do things like purposely send you down a tiny mountain road, bypassing the lovely interstate-like highway nearby just to mess with you? While a beautiful drive, I didn't have time to deal with 20 miles of 20 mph roads that left us all sick to our stomachs and caused us to arrive a half hour later then we should have. This lovely view was taken from inside Lost River State Park in WV. Why are small state parks considered an acceptable route to travel between NC and WV? Really? Especially in December. Who programs this into the GPS? Someone who works for Garmin is sadistic, I tell you!
Gorgeous.

Beautiful photo. I agree about the gps problems. I once left a friend's house in Atlanta to go north. I needed to get back on the highway, and (not paying attention), it brought me many miles through towns. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry.

Those GPSs can be awesome and frustrating. I was stuck in a do loop around Wilmimgton, North Carolina a few years ago; a very nice state trooper pulled me over on my third pass and straightened me out.

I call it "pig path" mode. It can take you to the most interesting places. Nice leading lines. There's something about these views and their photos (of the road rounding a curve) that makes me so curious. What's around the bend?

Lost River State Park? Really???? :-)

lovely curves. What I find funny is when people refuse to listen to the directions you give them, preferring instead to go the complicated route suggested by GPS device.
