Tent building by homeschoolmom

Tent building

For my Get Pushed challenge this week, I was asked to photograph an interesting building or architecture. This tent is part of my church. It's a fairly new church in a new community. It started out as a very small building, which they quickly outgrew. So, they got this tent building, which has permanent walls (even a second story) in it. And, they out grew that, so it's now the children's center (which they out grew and now they purchased portable classrooms like many schools use when they are renovating). When they thought they were going to build a normal sanctuary, the church membership decided they should build a gym that would act as a community center. We now meet in the gym, which is used daily for everything from Zumba classes to martial arts to basketball to music lessons. Still no plans to build a sanctuary yet, but they did build a community playground called God's Backyard (which I also took pictures of) because kids in the new subdivisions being built had no place to play. People were bringing their kids to the church to play on the little strip of grass that goes around the building! It's a great outreach and resource for the budding community. But, that's not what makes this church so unusual. Because it's located close to a military facility, about 75 percent of its membership are military (active duty, retired or family member).

GReat lines here and a fascinating tale of the church with no sanctuary. Maybe there should be more of them. More outreach and community involvement and less formality
