Windmills on a mountain ridge in WV. For the first time, we actually got to see them turning like they are producing energy. Usually, they are turned off or barely turning.
@digitalrn They are absolutely huge. I think each blade is over 60 feet in length. They had a terrible time getting them through town and up the mountain road. In fact. They had to stop off the tops of the mountains and build roads to get them in. Looks horrible up there.
@randystreat Actually, from everything we've seen from these windmills, they are very inefficient and they only produce a small amount of power. These hardly every run. Mostly they give the power company carbon credits so they can run the power company to keep the lights on in the valley.
Awesome shot! What area was this in? I have a friend in WV who recently posted since they turned on the windmills, she's been getting horrible headaches from the low noise. How interesting you said this was the first time you've seen them turned on.
Maybe ya'll were in the same neighborhood?
