I was surprised to find the empress trees behind our church blooming when I arrived this morning. And I forgot my camera. I looked in my album from last year. These trees bloomed at the end of March, not the beginning.
What an interesting looking flower. I have seen a tree that looks like it has blossomed similar to this that I have often thought I would take a photograph of. I may have to inspect it more closely now.
I took a horticulture class once and the instructor said this wood was highly prized in China. This one might have been effected by the cold night as it doesn't seem as vibrant as many I've seen.
