Common Grackles by homeschoolmom

Common Grackles

When I was in Wilmington, NC, yesterday, I kept seeing this brown bird hear these black birds, which I thought were crows until I heard one sing. Beautiful song, definitely not a crow. Turns out, the black bird is the male common grackle and the brown bird is the female common grackle. They don't look so common to me, as I've never seen them before. Maybe they like the ocean, as they are common in NC's Outer Banks.
Beautiful shots. They are probably migrating - I would think you would get a lot of migrating birds.

Terrific collage of them. Nice detail of the individual ones and fabulous to get the two together.

Hmm. I thought they were all black. Have to look more carefully. Nice triptych of the grackles.

@joansmor I think they like to hang out at the Outer Banks, because we don't see them at all in central NC.
