Fog often shrouds the small islands of Lake George and Lake Champlain in upstate New York. In fact, Benedict Arnold used it to his advantage to fight and delay the British Navy during the Revolutionary War to help protect Ft. Ticonderoga!
Have you ever read "Arundel" by Kenneth Roberts. This tells in fictional form the march to Quebec by Arnold. Very interesting. Kenneth Roberts is a Maine author. I love his books.
@kwind@swilde Thanks! @joansmor My husband is wanting to read something on Arnold. I think he would love that book, so would my 11-year-old history buff. @juliedduncan@lafish Thanks! @digitalrn It's does look like a sea, but it's only a lake. Amazing that they fought a naval battle on it. @ceilidh Thanks so much for the FAV!
@joansmor It's kind of hard to do a truly biographical story on someone like that, One of my husband;s favorite books is Killer Angels, which is the basis for Gettysburg -- fairly accurate to the battle, but considered fictional because there isn't any documentation on conversations and such.
@homeschoolmom I'll have to see if my library has that. My favorite Civil war book is House Divided by Ben Ames and I am actually rereading it between books.
@annika82 @amandal @quietpurplehaze @pinkpaintpot Thanks so much.
