A Rose of a Lighthouse! by homeschoolmom

A Rose of a Lighthouse!

The lighthouse on Rose Island in Newport, RI, can only be reached by ferry. I snapped this picture while crossing the massive bridge the spans the bay.
Lovely scene, nice little lighthouse.

Lovely - we lived in Newport for a year and it was a wonderful experience. Glad you are getting to see so much of my native New England!

@markp @linnypinny @lynnilou Thanks!
@linc My husband is finishing up the Army's War College, so he thought it warranted a trip to the Navy's War College! LOL! It was a fun trip. It was state number 40 for me and my daughter (45 for my husband and 37 for my boys).

A great scene that is. What is that huge building across the bay? It looks like it is a prison

@digitalrn It is one of the forts that used guard the bay -- Fort Adams. Behind us is the Naval base. I believe there was even some Revolutionary War battles fought here.

@lafish Thanks. It's Ft. Adams.
@swilde We were high up on a bridge that crosses the bay. I think they made it high enough for the big ships to sail under it.
