My maternal grandmother made these Dutch girl quilt squares for me when I was born. However, already in declining health, she never finished it. One of my goals for this upcoming year (maybe an early New Years Resolution) is to finish my quilt. I have a finished quilt top that is made from the same pink. I believe it was a quilt that she started for my dad. If they are the same size, I think I'll use that as the backside of my Dutch girl quilt. I recently found both as I was unpacking some boxes. I'm using this as filler on my mom's birthday.
Wonderful nostalgic keepsake! I have some Sunflower Sue squares my maternal grandmother started that I hope to finish, but hand appliqueing isn't my favorite thing to do. Maybe we need to nudge each other in January to complete our UFOs. (That's unfinished objects for those that aren't quilters!)
The colors still look so pretty and bright! (My Mom had a dutch girl quilt but, I'm not sure if she or my Grandmother made it. I have not idea where it is, at the moment and I'd love to find it! Lovely photo, Lisa.
