The magnolia Tulips have been in bloom since last week. Finally got a picture of one. I've always heard these called tulip trees. But, a few years ago, I found out they were a type of magnolia tree, although they are quite different from the giant magnolia trees that grow here in the South. These are dedicuous (lose all their leaves and are dorment in the winter). The other magnolia trees are gigantic, evergreen, and have huge white flowers that bloom in the summer. The flowers are so delicate, in spite of their dinner plate size, that they die in about 24 hours from the extreme heat. But the center of this tulip magnolia is less than an inch long and as big around as my finger. The evergreen magnolia's center is about the size of my fist.
