Checkerboard pattern

058 - We last saw this bud on 19th March. I had expected it to bloom before this but perhaps the cool wet weather delayed it's opening.

I love the checkerboard pattern formed as these buds begin to open.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think so. It's on one of a number of varied bushes and trees on the site of the old Clifton Hospital. I'll post another picture when it comes fully into bloom.
