057 - Back onto Clifton Ings to see how far the water extends today. The cycle track (bottom right) has emerged from under the water in some places, but much of it is still submerged.
The water here is not very deep today, but it does look quite impressive. The line of trees and hedge is normally followed by a small stream, so we still have a little way to go before water levels are back to their usual level. But at least deliberately flooding this area, where relatively little damage is done, reduces the flood level downstream in the city centre and beyond, and helps prevent more serious damage to property there.
Well, much of the south and east of the country has drought orders, but we were just outside the drought area. The problem for the drought areas is that although they have had rain, the ground is so hard due to the drought that much of it has simply run into the nearest stream / river rather than soaking into the ground, and it's now well on it's way to the sea

Thank's Lisa - it will be interesting to see how long it all takes to dissapear
I have another oicture of the Kings Arms, with drinkers sat outside, with the water still over the banks there - I will email it to you
