After the Floods by if1

After the Floods

224 - It's about two weeks since the floods receded in York as the river level dropped. Some of the effects of those floods will take a long time to resolve, particularly for those whose properties were flooded.

The tidy up is quite a big job, and I came across these two examples of work still needed. On the left, Rowntree Park is still closed. The pond in there is more than double it's normal size and covers a number of footpaths. Pumps are slowly removing the excess water.

On the right, Scarborough Bridge carries the railway over the river, and at the moment it is decorated with a considerable quantity of debris awaiting removal.

On the positive side, the riverside streets are all now clear, as are almost all of the riverside paths, and clearance of debris is underway.
