280 - A wander around the centre of High Wycombe revealed a wide variety of interesting buildings to photograph, with a fascinating mixture of old and modern.
Not an ideal day for photos of buildings, with bright low sunshine giving harsh shadows, but I did like this shot of All Saints Church. The church also has a long and interesting history.
The original church was consecrated by St Wulstan, Bishop of Worcester, in 1087. In 1275, major extension and rebuilding took place, and the shape and size of the present building stems largely from this work. In the mid-fifteenth century the roof was removed, the pillars remodelled and the clerestory windows added, and in 1521 the building of the tower was started.
After a restoration in the nineteenth century, the 1980s saw further extensive repairs and re-ordering. Over a period of three years, repairs were carried out to the roof and interior plasterwork, and the interior layout was also changed.
Thank you Helen, glad you are enjoying the series. Sadly, I will soon be on my way back north to York, so the series is almost over. I got to West Wycombe on my last visit at the end of June, and although I took a lot of shots there, non made it into my project - but I will probably be back before too long, so more exploring to come!
Thank you Heather, it is interesting to discover where people are from as your project develops. There are at least two people (in addition to you) who have commented on my shots of the last few days who are from the area.
The trees being bare at the moment make this a much clearer shot than is possible in the warmer seasons.
Thank you Judith - I particularly liked the colour of the stone against the sky here.
Thank you Caren - it was a beautifully sunny but cold day, but nice to be out exploring.
Thank you Debra, this is quite an imposing tower.
Thank you Therese, glad you like it.

Thank you Tony, I agree, the sky was fabulous and really helps this shot.
Thank you Bob - I did soften the shadow a little, it was very harsh originally.
