Afternoon Sky by if1

Afternoon Sky

303 - After a series of grey wet days over Christmas and New Year, yesterday was brighter with some sunshine, and today was back to dull and wet, at least until this strip of brighter sky this afternoon.

With flood water appearing in some of York's riverside streets, for the third time since September, it's hard to believe that we started 2012 with serious concerns over drought. It seems 2013 is going to be rather different, although we are promised drier weather for the next 2-3 days.

nice sky!

Lovely shot!!!
The town in South Africa where I live had the same in 2011... we started the year in a very serious drought, and ended it in floods!!! 2012 we had more floods... and now 4-5 months later, some areas are still swamped!!!

Dramatic sky. I am a bit north of you in South Shields and it was gloomy for most of the day and we were hoping for some brighter weather after yesterday

Dramatic sky! Just about sums up the year in the UK. Well done on getting on so far with your project. Not far to go now. :)

@monkeykid

Thank you Therese - apparently this area had its wettest year since records began, yet the first three months were very dry! I hope you weren't affected by the floods - they make such a mess, and I feel so sorry for those who lose so much in the flood water.

@steviepix

Thank you Stevie - it was a brief dramatic interlude before the grey took over again. The project has become rather addictive - don't know what I'm going to do when I get to the end in just over 2 months!

@kdimagery

Thank you Kd - it was amazing how quickly this appeared and then faded back to grey.
